In the midst of self isolation, as I write, I think of all of you wherever you are during the current pandemic in the world and wish only the best for each of you and your families.

Many of you have written so here goes. From Suzanne Oparil (soparil@uab.mc.edu). She is full time doing Hypertension research and seeing patients at the University of Alabama , Birmingham. Just named Distinguished Scientist of American Heart Association. She is the United Therapeutics Endowed Professor of Pulmonary Vascular Diseases.

Is satisfied to see mentorees succeed in careers and life. Remembers being herded out early for milk punch breakfast to celebrate election to Phi Beta Kappa.

Gerald Schneider will appear in the PBS documentary “Woodend” from The Audubon Naturalist Society’s environmental center in Chevy Chase, MD, that he opened up 50 years ago and became the organization’s first  Executive Director. Travel in 2019 included New Zealand, So. Italy and the Elbe River cruise in Germany. He wishes for peace in the Middle East and enjoys discussion groups on contemporary issues.

Bruce Miller (bamoom@aol.com) is still working part  time as consultant to Financial Planning, a company he sold a year ago. Has 9 grandchildren and says he is still vintage car racing. Recently saw  classmate Larry Carducci at his 80th birthday celebration. Larry and wife Beth doing well as wine makers in N.Cal. Enjoys annual cruises. Enjoyed activities at the Straight. When Bill and I lived in Reedsport, OR, we would occasionally join the Portland area Cornell club and drink Larry Carducci’s wine! Good stuff!

Arthur M. Tasker (arthur.m.tasker@earthlink.net) is still “practicing a little bit of law, non-contentious stuff like personal docs…” Describes a fabulous trip with daughter Alex Tasker Marx ‘90 to Italy, introducing her to cousins in the village of Biccari from which his grandparents emigrated in 1889.

From Ed Kayser (edwin.kayser@comcast.net) says he “is fishing, wood working, reading, attending medical grand rounds weekly, working out @ fitness gym. Has 4 kids (2 his and 2 wife Cheryl living within 5 to 20 minutes, 8 grandchildren, goes to our small ranch in central OR desert or to OR beach. Recalls fabulous lunch at 4 star restaurant in so. France.

Fran Shapiro Ivker (drfbi1@gmail.com), husband Barry Ivker Penn ‘62 from Hoover, AL writes she is retired 3/4 as OB-GYN MD, no surgery, no hospital work. Enjoyed travel to Madagascar to “see lemurs in trees.” Last of Bar/Bat Mitzvahs in May, ‘20. Happy to watch grandchildren grow up and graduate college.

Willard L. Reed (b4br1316@msn.com) serves on 3 church committees, after volunteering on a community Emergency and Medical Response Team. He sold his home after his wife died in 2027 and has bought a trailer. May move back to NYC.

Sheila Weinrub Trossman “is happily wintering in Boca Raton FLA where the ‘61 girls meet: Dale Adams, Marlene Tien, Marian Pease, Judy Goldfaden and Bobbi Singer when she comes thru and Carol Bonosaro”.

From Anne Lasher Mihalisin (mihalisinanne@gmail.com) in a new retirement community in San Diego is news that  she “plans to spend my days playing poker, bridge, pool, water aerobics and participate in numerous activities available.”

Jill Beckoff Nagy (nagyjillo@gmail.com) and George ‘62 llive in Troy, NY. Jill is “retired. Doing some pro-bono legal work, freelance for a monthly publication, hang out at the YMCA, read a lot…enjoying the return of spring birds and departure of crows.”

Robert Gambino (rbgambino1938@gmail.com) writes “I still love my horticulture and run my greenhouse enterprise but I really get a kick out of killing the non-native species -- Japanese knotweed and garlic mustard to name a few. Remembers the Chinese restaurant across from Zincks.”

Diana Frumkes Thompson (dianaft21@yahoo.com) Richard ’59 is advocating for seniors and plays duplicate bridge two or three times a week. She and her husband live in WA within 11 miles of 10 persons with corona virus. And when she wrote on 3/20/20 they were in a state of emergency.

L. George Wilson (george_Wilson@ncsu.edu) is Prof Emeritus in Postharvest Physiology/Technology. Rates “family first including travels to Italy where our daughter & her retired US Army Col live/work. Church, Rotary International, Partners of the Americas (NC/Bolivia), has 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons.”

Bradley L. Griffin writes praising the Alumni News for it’s treatment of Dr. Frank H. T. Rhodes.

Charles Hecht (cjhecht@aol.com) checks in again. Is full time practicing law and continues sculpting with a studio in Maspeth Queens.
